The London Family Health Team’s vision “Partners in health, creating a healthier community” guides how we offer high quality team-based primary health care for our patients in London Ontario. We are a diverse group of health care practitioners, including family physicians, who provide health care at three locations. The team provides a broad spectrum of primary health care services to 21,000 patients to ensure they get the care they need when they need it.  

Position Summary:

Accountable to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) has the overall responsibility for leadership, management, and operations of the LFHT. The ED supports the Board in developing its long-term strategic direction.

The ED ensures that appropriate systems are in place for resource identification and utilization, risk management, human resources management, finance, public relations, and integration with community partners.

The ED is a strategic leader who advises the Board on all matters related to policy and risk, quality improvement, program development and evaluation, and resource management within the LFHT and the broader health care system.  

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a management level including financial planning and budget management in a healthcare environment, preferably in a primary care or community health environment.
  • University degree in Health or Business Administration or health-related discipline, or a suitable combination of education and experience; master’s degree preferred.
  • Business management skills in finance, information technology, performance metrics, and human resources.
  • Experience in working with government agencies at a variety of levels, from Ontario Health, including Ontario Health at Home (previously known as Home and Community Care Support Services), to the Ministry of Health.
  • Experience in effective strategic planning, policy development, quality improvement and proven ability to lead change and implement creative solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead inter-professional teams.
  • Demonstrated competency in digital health including information technology literacy related to IT infrastructure, other hardware, and software for healthcare efficiency.
  • Commitment to anti-racism, equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Other assets: experience in clinical program planning, development, and evaluation; commitment to lifelong learning; and resourcefulness and flexibility to meet the needs of the organization; knowledge of relevant legislative requirements including health and safety, privacy, and employment legislation; knowledge of electronic health record systems and in particular PS Suites.
